  My husband was in a similar situation. He began researching, printing stacks of information, and telling me some of the things he was finding out. It scared me so much, I cried, pleading with him that he would be out of the "truth" within 6 months if he kept up. He burned everything that night in the fireplace, but continued lurking. One nite he asked me if I knew Jesus wasn't my mediator. I said that was just apostates talking. He said no, he was reading it from a Watchtower. I turned on my computer and searched the CD Rom, and sure enough, he was right! Was I ever upset, not at him, but the society. That was one thing that started my search. I think the advice to slow down is probably good. Good luck.

  Are there not enough anti-Witness books out there?

  every once in awhile i will read comments about someone thinking a new anti-witness book needs to be written, to expose something.

  well, recently i took the time to look over the search engines of the internet and found something interesting.

  when you type in "jehovah's witness" or "watchtower", you found almost 3 to 1, negative sites and information on the witnesses.

  Since our middle son is completely shunning us, even though he has only heard gossip and never once asked us for some facts, I've made a point to tell everyone in our area I can how the WT teaches its members to shun family. They ask "why"? then I've the opportunity to mention a few issues they could ask any JW that come to their door, like why Jesus is their mediator only if they're associated with the WT's 144,000, why JW's aren't told if there is a pedophile in their midst so they can protect their children and why the WT doesn't tell the truth about 607, or the UN issue. It has stirred a number of conversations. One grocery clerk said her church had a program on talking to JW's. Maybe if JW's started getting questioned when they were out in service, someone of them might begin checking things out.

  "Theocratic Warfare" - An Apostate Strategy?

  who here had ever heard of this so-called 'doctrine' of "theocratic warfare" when you were a jehovah's witness?

  who has not heard of the so-called doctrine now that you are an apostate?

  so why have witnesses never heard of 'doctrine', yet apostates seem to promote it as the last word on witness standards of honesty, integrity and decency?

  "UN nonsense"? My husband and I looked on the UN sight when we first heard about their involvement and at the time, copied much information leading directly to the WT. They certainly were part of the UN and would like to hide that FACT now.

  Hi Barb and Joe,

  Just finished reading your essay. Only was able to print off 15 pages the other day, but when we returned home we did as you said with a PDF file and all pages copied fine. It's so sad that the ones we love won't even give us a hearing ear. Perhaps someday, who knows what will happen in their lives, that will cause them to wonder at things you have said. Hopefully so. As Lady Liberty said, their hearts need to be open to the real truth first. You both put it all "on the line" for what was the right thing to do, and we all appreciate your efforts. Thank you again.

I know it would be so much easier to just "get on with your life" but there are so many others that can be helped by your efforts. Sorry I didn't get this posted earlier, but I got distracted by a phone call, then off to work. Thanks again.

  Is it time to come out ?

  i have been considering my options lately.

  i feel like i need to talk to my chilren about my true feelings about being , or in this case not being a jw any longer.

  my kids are all going to be home together, the first time in over two years, this next month .

  We read your post and saw what we went through over 4 years ago. We began our "search" and studied 4-5 hours a day for two years. We typed a 60 page report for our children with over 700 scriptures and WT references, dealing with all the things we had found out about the WT. We had a 4 page "letter" that explained in brief why we hadn't been to meetings in 2 years and why we wouldn't be attending the next summer assembly. Needless to say, we "over-whelmed" them. I don't think they heard any of the letter we read them. It took 2 more years before our children began their own search. It was difficult even having much of a conversation with them, as they were sure we were "apostates" and took everything we said to be trying to "sneak" something into our conversations. Four of our five children didn't "shun" us, but one has, completely. When I saw him last week, with our granddaughter whom we hadn't seen for 2 years, he looked down, put his hand out and repeated, "no" and "don't mom". He said he'd heard we were apostates and didn't want to talk. Fortunately our other children have begun their own search and have come out also. If we had it to do over again, we would probably be a little more "gentle" with our approach, sticking with probably only one subject, like "607". I think if we'd ask them for help finding proof of "607" outside of the WT, we might have gotten further, sooner. Anyway, I guess we are fortunate that most of our children are out. I guess my advice to you would approach the matter that you have questions and need help finding satisfactory answers. JWD has had a lot of information about the "607" issue, as from it stems the validity for 1914 and the "faithful slave" appointment in 1918. Hope this helps.   can anyone provide me with any evidence (links to other sites is fine) that jerusalem could not have possibly fallen to the babylonians in 607?

  Just a brief comment about the "celebrated Watchtower scholars". In whose eyes are they celebrated? It made me think of a scripture in 2 Corinthians 10:12. The New World Translation puts it very well. "For we do not dare to class ourselves among some or compare ourselves with some who recommend themselves. Certainly they in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves with themselves have no understanding."

  UPSET!

  my husband and his mother invited me to their memorial and i asked my hubby that he should come with me to easter sunday mass.

  he told me that he couldn't go b/c he took an oath.. come easter sunday, my husband did not, i repeat, did not, come with me and my family to mass.their functions, i will not go!!

  I can understand you're being upset, but I also understand where your husband is coming from. I was raised a JW for over 50 years, finding the "truth" for the last 4. I would have done the same thing. I remember my best friend in school invited me to her "worldly" wedding in her church and I didn't go. I couldn't mix "truth" with "false", going to a "false religious" church. I've felt very badly all these years, especially since she came to my wedding at the Kingdom Hall and had a good time. In the last 41 years we have spoken only a few times, and not recently, so I recently called her and said how sorry I was and how this bothered me so much over the years. She was very kind and forgiving, even though she said it didn't bother her. How loving and Christian she was. We have renewed an online friendship again, after these 40 years. As a JW you take the scripture seriously that says you can't be drinking of the "cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons". Perhaps by your checking out some of the subjects talked about on this forum, like the 607 BC "headache", you'll be able to ask some questions of your husband that he can't answer, getting him to begin doing "research". Your husband would be considered an "apostate" if he went to another church service. He didn't mind that you might be and "apostate" from your religion. Best of luck.

  CAMPAIGN: Partake at the coming Memorial on the basis of John 6:53

  My husband and I have celebrated the "Memorial" in our home the past two years. It has been quite a moving experience. We spend time reading and talking about a number of scriptures. We read most of the scriptures dealing with the event itself, as well as related scriptures: Matthew 26:20-29; Mark 14:17-26; Luke 22:14-30; John 13:1-35; 1 Corinthians 10:16,17; 11:23-27. We also read a number of scriptues relating to the heavenly hope and salvation from Christ Jesus: Acts 4:12; 10:43; Matthew 19:27-29; John 3:16; 6:40, 51-58; Galations 3:26-28. We bought "kosher" wine and I made unleavened bread from a recipe I found. The Bible said Jesus sang after the supper, so we sang song #87, The Lord's Evening Meal. We looked over the "song", since it was from the JW songbook, to see if there was anything objectionable, and felt it expressed the scriptures well, which is a surprise! All in all it was a very moving experience, unlike anything from the Kingdom Hall. Jesus said to keep doing this till he came again, so it's uncertain if he meant "70 CE" or later, but observing the Memorial as a Memorial for what he did for us is still important to us.

  should I disassociate myself or wait to get disfellowshipped?

  my closes friend asked me today if her and her husband should just go ahead and write a letter of disassociation or wait to be df.

  many months ago i talked with them about 607, etc.

  all the things i was finding out.

  Personally, I want to wait and let them get rid of me just because I'm asking questions. That way I can say I didn't "ask for it". Who makes the decision, when you've asked to many questions? Love you're use of the "false" instead of the "truth"! Keep up the good work...we're proud of you both.
